Cuisinart GR-4NNAS: The Panini Press That Makes Room for Breakfast

Cuisinart GR-4NNAS opened flat with food on both ridged cooking plates

A sandwich press becomes a more compelling kitchen purchase when the lid can turn into useful cooking space. The Cuisinart Griddler GR-4NNAS closes around panini, then opens flat so both plates face upward for another kind of meal.

One pair of plates, two useful shapes

The supplied plates reverse between ridged and smooth faces. Select the arrangement while the machine is cool: ridges for grilling, smooth surfaces for pancakes or French toast, or a combination when foods share a suitable heat setting.

For pressed sandwiches, the floating lid adjusts to the stack. Keep neighboring sandwiches a consistent thickness so it can close evenly. For an open meal, the upper plate becomes a second surface you can reach with a spatula.

Consider cleanup and working space

Removable plates are a substantial part of the appeal. Unplug and let the machine cool completely before releasing them; the plates and drip tray can be washed separately and are dishwasher safe. The electrical housing needs wiping rather than immersion.

The outer temperature dials control alternative modes, not separate temperatures for each plate. Open use also needs extra counter space, and Cuisinart prohibits operating it under a wall cabinet. Waffle plates are an additional purchase.

Choose the GR-4NNAS if you can picture both sandwiches and open-griddle meals in your week. That second cooking arrangement gives it a stronger reason to stay within reach.
