Print-Farm Cost Worksheet: Cost per Good Part

Print-Farm Cost Worksheet: Calculate Cost per Good Part

Prepared by the FilamentBay Materials Team

Use a defined batch and accounting window so rejected attempts remain visible. Comparing spool prices alone can hide supports, purge, machine occupancy and operator time. This worksheet calculates an observed or explicitly estimated cost; it does not promise savings or a production yield.

Batch/job/date range: __________ Currency: __________

Part revision and acceptance criteria: __________

Output accounting Quantity
Attempted parts, including reprints __________
Accepted parts meeting the stated criteria __________
Rejected or unfinished parts __________
Reason for rejection and treatment of seconds __________

Choose a consistent material boundary. Reconcile slicer estimates with actual consumed spool mass where available, including supports, purge and unusable remnants. If using landed material cost, state whether inbound freight, duties or tax are already included so they are not added a second time.

Cost line Quantity and unit rate Extended cost
Net material consumed ____ kg × ____ /kg __________
Machine occupancy, including failed runs ____ hours × ____ /hour __________
Energy, only if excluded from machine rate ____ kWh × ____ /kWh __________
Setup, removal, rework and packing labor ____ hours × ____ /hour __________
Inspection and other allocated costs Basis: __________ __________
Freight not already included above Allocation: __________ __________

Total batch cost = sum of the extended costs: __________

Cost per good part = total batch cost ÷ accepted parts: __________

If no parts are accepted, record the batch cost and investigate; the per-good-part value is undefined. Record reprints once through their actual inputs rather than adding a separate failure allowance to costs that already include them.

For a purchasing forecast, distinguish measured usage from peak-flow estimates. Peak flow maintained throughout operating hours can overstate consumption. Do not apply an extra extrusion duty factor to actual consumed mass or a measured average that already accounts for idle periods.

Largest uncertain input and how to measure it next: __________

Alternative scenario and single changed assumption: __________
