Cut Sequence Review: From Layout to Saw

A compact layout can still be awkward or unsafe to cut. Review the sequence before committing material.

Start with full-length reference cuts

Identify cuts that divide the sheet into manageable strips without trapping a part or removing the straight factory edge you planned to reference. Mark the stock orientation before rotating it on the saw.

Preserve grain and faces

For visible panels, confirm that every part has the required grain direction and that the chosen face remains consistent. Rotation may improve yield mathematically while producing a visually mismatched assembly.

Track kerf and labels

Use the actual blade kerf, then label each part as it comes off the sheet. Recheck dimensions after any operation that changes the reference edge.
